Council bids to halt probe into fatal road crash

Kerry County Council has applied to the High Court to stop the Health and Safety Authority from investigating a fatal road traffic crash.

Don Murphy, aged 22, an ESB apprentice from Knocknaloman, Rathmore, Co Kerry, died when the car he was driving crashed on Sept 29 last year.

Mr Murphy was alone in the car when the crash occurred on the N72. He was pronounced dead at the scene. In its action, Kerry County Council yesterday asked the High Court to stop the HSA from carrying out an investigation into the accident which occured at Rathmore around 10pm.
