Dr Eva’s health product company sees profits swell

Accounts by Dr Orsmond’s Ectiva Health Products show it increased its accumulated profits by €156,345 to €839,988 in the 12 months to the end of March last.
Cash at the firm last year reduced from €128,575 to €96,702.
Dr Orsmond co-owns the firm with her husband, Wyatt, and its main activity is the importation and selling of health food products mainly sold for the various weight management programmes at Dr Orsmond’s chain of weight-loss clinics.
The Finnish-born doctor operates a chain of Orsmond Clinics in Dublin, Galway, Newbridge, Limerick and Kilkenny, treating overweight and obesity in adults and children.
Accounts for the clinic, which offers clients a medically supervised professional approach to the treatment of obesity and overweight, are not available as Dr Orsmond operates as a sole trader under the name of Orsmond Clinics.
Dr Orsmond said yesterday: “We have recently opened in Kilkenny and we hope to open in Cork soon.”
She said that the clinic and Ectiva Products businesses are complementary and “they will hopefully both benefit”.
Asked if Operation Transformation has boosted the business of Ectiva Products and the chain of clinics, Dr Orsmond said: “Yes and no. Operation Transformation has raised awareness about the dangers of excess weight and I would imagine that the whole industry benefits from it in some form or another.
“While it has boosted my profile, people are under the misconception that my clinics are highly specialised and therefore expensive.
“We do, however, cater for all levels — from those battling to lose a few pounds to those with major health problems. Our prices are competitive and we aim at providing a unique service.”
In the current series of Operation Transformation, the five ‘leaders’ lost an aggregate 11.5 stones under Dr Orsmond’s supervision.
Dr Orsmond said that “99% of our clients lose the weight. We also have a very high success rate in reversing type 2 diabetes and significantly reducing reliance on medication”.
She said that her shareholding in Ectiva Products is minor and that it is operated by her husband, Wyatt.
Mr Orsmond said that revenues were up €200,000 at the firm last year, but much of this is related to his geotechnical consulting work, which now also passes through the company.
On Wednesday, 645,000 viewers watched the no-nonsense doctor in the finale of Operation Transformation.
