The father of a man who died in a car crash on Friday broke down as he paid tribute to his son, who was hoping to start college shortly.

Paul Doran, aged 22, died when the 06-registered blue Chevrolet Kalos he was driving lost control and smashed into an ESB pole on the outskirts of Limerick City.

Gardaí said no other vehicle was involved in the collision, which occurred at 4.55am on the Corbally Rd between O’Driscoll’s Pub and Cooney’s car sales.
