Cecilia romcom to shoot in summer

A romcom based on one of Cecilia Ahern’s best-selling novels is set to begin shooting this summer with Phil Collins’s daughter in the lead role.

Tinseltown bible The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that The Blind Side actress Lily Collins and Snow White and the Huntsman star Sam Claflin have been signed up to the film, titled Love, Rosie, which will be helmed by German director Christian Ditter.

The movie, expected to begin filming in Canada and Ireland in May, is based on the author’s second best-selling novel Where Rainbows End.

The story follows Irish student Rosie Dunne, whose plans to attend university in the US with her male best friend go awry when she discovers she is pregnant after a night out with the most popular boy in school.

Love, Rosie was the title of the book in the US.

The heart-warming story from one of the country’s most successful authors follows childhood pals Rosie and Alex over 12 years of their lives.

The author is well-versed in dealing with Hollywood after her first novel, PS I Love You, became a blockbuster.

The romcom, which starred Gerard Butler and Hilary Swank, was a big hit on both sides of the Atlantic and is credited with Ahern being invited to Los Angeles to pen the sitcom Samantha Who? which starred Christina Applegate.

Her latest novel, One Hundred Names, contains Ahern’s trademark mystery hook, with a journalist trying to unlock her dead colleague’s file which holds the key to the story she always wanted to publish.

Meanwhile, the 11-year-old daughter of Ronan Keating has landed her second film role, in the new homegrown movie Gold.

Marie Keating, known as Missy, was on set in Dublin yesterday on the big-screen comedy which also stars Hobbit actor James Nesbitt and Shadow Dancer’s David Wilmot.
