Anger at Derrynane House closure

Fáilte Ireland representatives and tourism groups on the Ring of Kerry are to pressure the Office of Public Works to postpone the closure of Derrynane House, the museum home of Daniel O’Connell, in the year of The Gathering.

Pressure is also being put on Arts and Heritage Minister Jimmy Deenihan to use his influence to have the closure of the house in Caherdaniel postponed.

The OPW confirmed last Friday that it is to close what is one of the key tourist attractions on the Ring of Kerry at the height of the tourist season for refurbishment.
