A committee which represents householders and businesses in a West Cork town has expressed concern about an eight-month delay in €10m flood-prevention plans.

Following a devastating flood which hit Skibbereen in Nov 2009, the people of the town were promised that consultants — in conjunction with the OPW and Cork County Council — would make public their plans for flood defence works last November.

However, it has emerged they will not be in a position to do this until next April.
