Comedian laughing all the way to the bank

Comedian Patrick Kielty is laughing all the way to the bank as his entertainment firm’s cash pile totals £607,958 (€723,994).

Accounts lodged by Kielty’s Boxed Productions Ltd with the Companies House in the UK show that the firm’s accumulated profits last year topped £639,461.

The abridged accounts do not provide details of revenues, salaries or if any dividends were paid in the year to the end of Mar 31, 2012.

Accumulated profits last year fell from £657,779 to £639,461, with the firm’s cash pile down marginally from £662,170 to £607,958.

Separate documents show that Kielty, 41, resigned as director of Green Inc Film and Television Ltd in March last year.

Filings show that that firm’s accumulated profits decreased by £286,333 from £629,938 to £343,605 in the year to Mar 31, 2012.

The Belfast-based firm’s fortunes suffered a blow last year when two of its productions — the Daily Show and Four Live for RTÉ – were axed due to cuts at the national broadcaster.

Figures show that the firm’s cash decreased from £1.1m to £482,601.

Kielty, a native of Dundrum, Co Down, has presented shows on the BBC, ITV, and Channel 4, including Fame Academy, Love Island, and Stand Up for the Week. In September, he married British TV personality Cat Deeley in a secret ceremony conducted by Belfast-based priest and friend, Fr Gary Donegan, in Rome.
