Woman, 69, chases intruder from her home with hatchet

A 69-year-old woman chased a burglar out of her home with a hatchet after he tried to rob her.

The pensioner heard noises at her home in Kilmacrennan, Co Donegal, just after 4am yesterday.

The terrified woman, who was home alone, was in another part of the house and managed to call gardaí.
