TV financial experts offer lifeline out of debt burden

The producers of a TV show have offered a lifeline to people swamped by debt.

Cameo Productions is producing a six-part series for RTÉ that will feature a team of financial experts helping businesses and individuals struggling with a large debt burden.

“They may have multiple investment properties here or abroad that are not servicing the mortgages,” a Cameo spokesperson said.

“They may have lost their business but are still carrying debt and are in arrears to banks or Revenue.

“They may be trying to deal with the bank but getting nowhere, the family home may be at risk — essentially they feel helpless and vulnerable and don’t know where to turn to. Our experts have a unique insight and years of experience dealing with banks and want to help you.”

Successful candidates, who will be required to make a full financial disclosure, will get access to a financial recovery team which will help draw up a strategic business plan or a debt management plan.

The show will then follow them on their journey back from the brink of financial collapse.

The financial assistance will be provided by Advanced Corporate Transformations — a partnership between Tommy Murphy and Sean Dunne — both of whom are “Big Four”-trained chartered accountants.

Mr Murphy has a background in financial management and corporate restructuring and recovery across several business sectors. Mr Dunne specialises in the construction and property development industry, and hospitality.

Cameo Productions, based in Blarney, Co Cork, has produced behind several successful TV series, including The Enforcers and Animal Rescue, as well as producing reports for RTÉ’s Nationwide.

The show is due to air on RTÉ1 in June or July.
