Jack Reynor, from Wicklow, may not be a household name either here or in the US, but he is about to be. The 22-year-old has beencast by Michael Bay to star opposite Wahlberg in Transformers 4 — about as big a blockbuster as you can get in terms of global recognition.

Bay is clearly a fan and said he was won over by the “ballsy” Wicklow man by watching his breakout performance in Lenny Abrahamson’s critically acclaimed What Richard Did. The film was based loosely on the tragic death of a Dublin teenager outside a nightclub in 2000.
