Darren White, also known as Darren Kirby, aged 23, from 16 Ardcarrig, Carrigaline, Co Cork, came to the attention of gardaí in the early hours of the morning, according to Inspector Bill Duane yesterday.

Garda Declan Healy arrested White on Mar 11 at Main St, Carrigaline as he appeared to be drunk and a source of danger.

He was put into a patrol car and threatened Garda Healy that he would get him and that he was dead.

Insp Duane said he app-eared to calm down and Garda Healy released his restraining grip. “At that stage he lunged forward with his head and bit Garda Healy’s left hand.”

Eugene Murphy, defending, said White was pleading guilty to being threatening and abusive, obstructing Garda Healy, and being drunk and a danger to himself or others.

White was fined €650 before Cork District Court.
