A top temperature of 10ºC was recorded at Valentia weather station in Kerry at one point on Christmas Day, with the 2.5ºC recorded at Knock Airport being the lowest on the day.

A week before Christmas, one bookmaker considered top temperatures of less than 5ºC most likely for Christmas Day, and offered 7/2 for anybody willing to wager it reaching from 8ºC to 11ºC.
