He may have played a ruthless gangster in hit crime drama Love/Hate and a Machiavellian politician in Game of Thrones but actor Aiden Gillen says his most important role to date is pitching in to help combat homelessness in Ireland.

The 44-year-old from Dublin, who also starred in The Wire, is voicing Focus Ireland’s hard-hitting radio and television ads.

Gillen, whose sister worked with the charity for 12 years, said he is concerned that the harsh economic reality could drive more people into homelessness.
