Don’t read out abusive tweets, says ex-taoiseach

Former taoiseach John Bruton has called for an end to cyberbullying of politicians and said abusive tweets should not be read out on radio stations.

His comments follow the death of Shane McEntee, the junior agriculture minister, who took his own life on Friday.

It is understood that the 56-year-old Meath man had been the subject of vile online abuse following recent controversial remarks he made about the budget cuts.
