M8 ‘makes Cork a burglary target’

Improved journey times on the M8 motorway have seen Dublin gangs targeting Cork for burglaries, it was claimed yesterday, as three men were jailed for attempted burglary.

Inspector Pat Meaney said during the sentencing hearing that improvements in the road between the two cities saw Cork targeted for criminal purposes.

Frank Buttimer, solicitor, who represented three members of the Connors family, of various addresses in Tallaght, objected to that general evidence being given in the specific case before Cork District Court yesterday.
