The 74-year-old man who died in a house fire in north Cork on Sunday night has been identified as a renowned antiques expert and keen local historian who was in the middle of restoring a local church.

Timothy Arnold’s remains were found in a downstairs room of his two-storey, terraced house on the main street in Rathcormac.

The fire at the house was first spotted by a passersby shortly after 8pm on Sunday evening.
