Lowry’s stock rises with sale of Wedding Morn foal

Michael Lowry has begun to reap the rewards of a winning summer at the racetrack after a filly foal born to his mare in March was sold for €452,025 yesterday.

Lowry’s stock rises with sale of Wedding Morn foal

The bumper result at the Tattersalls’ December foal sale more than doubles the top price he achieved for the best of other colts and fillies born to his increasingly lucrative mare, Wedding Morn.

The sale, to Blanford Bloodstock in England, was seven times the €61,000 he achieved last winter when he brought a full sister of the filly sold yesterday to the Tattersalls ring. The value of his mare rocketed in June when Probably — a two-year-old full brother of his latest foal — won the prestigious Railway Stakes at the Curragh. This put the juvenile colt among the top contenders for the flat race classics next season.
