An Irish doctor wanted in Florida on charges of child molestation has been arrested in Morocco.

Rory Doyle, 58, with addresses in Donnybrook, Dublin 4, and Sallins, Co Kildare, was arrested in Ireland on foot of a US extradition warrant in 2009, but absconded before the Supreme Court could hear his appeal against extradition.

He was arrested in Tangier, Morocco, yesterday, following an investigation involving the gardaí, British police, and US and Moroccan authorities. A Garda source said they were “co-operating with US authorities in relation to this matter”.
