McIlroy inspires me, says tennis star girlfriend

Golf’s world number one Rory McIlroy will ring in the new year in Australia with Caroline Wozniacki, the tennis ace who admits she is inspired by her Irish boyfriend.

McIlroy wrapped up his fifth full pro season yesterday by storming to victory in the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai. After trailing by two shots with five holes to play, McIlroy flicked the thrill switch to birdie his closing five holes and win by two. In a Tiger Woods like final round kill, McIlroy wore a red shirt to savage his rivals.

“Actually, it was the only last clean shirt I had, that’s the honest truth. It’s worked for the last couple of times but I don’t think there’s anything to it.”
