Campaign to inform public about antibiotics

One third of Irish people took antibiotics last year, compared to almost half in 2009, it has emerged.

However, one in four people mistakenly believe that antibiotics prevent colds from developing into a more serious illness and speed up recovery time.

Yesterday, leading clinicians came together to back a new campaign to promote the correct use of antibiotics and tackle antibiotic resistance.
