The BBC star said he had been booked in for similar eyebag surgery to X Factor judge Louis Walsh but never got around to turning up for the appointment.
The Mayo judge has openly spoken about having his eye bags removed by Sharon Osbourne’s surgeon three years ago on prompting from X Factor supremo Simon Cowell.
Graham Norton, originally from Bandon, Co Cork, said he almost went under the knife as well but he was too busy to keep his appointment: “I must admit I’ve considered it. I went to see a man about my eye bags, which even I think are hideous.
“But every time I had an appointment something would come up. In the end, I took it as a sign that maybe it’s not mean tot to happen. Maybe I’ve grown into them.”
And the king of chat, who is dating software boss Trevor Patterson, insists he is happy about turning his landmark 50th birthday in April.
He told the TV Times: “Even I am surprised at how sanguine I am.
“I suppose it’s because I’m feeling pretty good and settled. I like my job and where I live, I’ve got my dogs and I’m seeing someone. I didn’t like 40 at all.”
And the presenter, who returns to Ireland every summer, said he is planning on throwing a big bash to celebrate turning half a century.
“I’m thinking about my party now. I had all these ‘save the week’ ideas about having a huge celebration somewhere but then I had a reality check and realised nobody wants to pack a bag for my stupid birthday.
“You only get one day so I’ll have a party in London somewhere.”
And he said he still loves his job which has the hottest celebrities in the world queuing up to sit on his famous couch: “What’s not to like about my job?
“This week we’ve got all the Js – the Top Gear guys Jeremy Clarkson and James May – and Jake Gyllenhall and Joan Rivers. I adore Joan... We’ve got Olympic champion Jessica Ennis next week and Girls Aloud on the week after.
“For Christmas we’ll have Jennifer Saunders and Dustin Hoffman and there’s to be a big whiff of Hollywood glamour with Hugh Jackman and Billy Crystal for New Year.”
