Big waves to hit our shores this weekend

The biggest waves so far this winter could hit our coastline this weekend, sending surfers into a frenzy of excitement.

The prospect of 9 metre-high waves lashing the north-west coastline have wave-riders already waxing their boards.

Irish surfers are being joined by surfers from as far away as Hawaii and Spain, who are monitoring winds to see if conditions are favourable for the huge waves to hit Donegal Bay, Co Sligo.
