Protesters urge HSE to reverse planned closure of psych unit

Another weekend — another march against HSE cutbacks.

Protesters in Cahersiveen, Co Kerry, are demanding the HSE reverse its plan to close the town’s Island View Psychiatric Unit at the end of the month. It is the only high-support hostel for mental health patients in the area.

A variety of accommodation, including nursing home and self- contained flats, is being suggested as alternatives.
