A college has admitted it chartered two more previously secret private jet trips for an expert assessing its bid to become a university.

The revelation emerged just a week after Waterford Institute of Technology caused outrage by confirming it organised another private plane from Waterford to Dublin for the same high-ranking official.

During last week’s Dáil Public Accounts Committee meeting into excessive spending at WIT, the college conceded it set up the initial flight for external expert Dr Jim Port in Mar 2007.
