Men bailed over €1.5m cannabis resin seizure

Two men appeared in Cork District Court yesterday facing charges related to the weekend seizure of cannabis with a street value of €1.5m.

Drugs officers seized 230kg of cannabis resin from a car and a house in Cork on Sept 28.

Jerome O’Halloran, aged 59, from St Joseph’s, Boreenmanna Rd, Cork, was charged with possession of cannabis and having the drug for sale or supply at St Joseph’s, Boreenamanna Rd, on that date.

Trevor Williamson, aged 46, of Meadowbrook, Heron’s Wood, Carrigaline, was charged with possession and possession for sale or supply of €900,000 worth of cannabis resin at St Joseph’s on the same date.

Mr Williamson was also charged with possession and possession for sale or supply of €600,000 worth of cannabis resin at Boreenamanna Rd on the same date where it is alleged that these drugs were discovered in a car.

Insp John Deasy said the directions from the DPP were not yet to hand in the case.

The two men were remanded on continuing bail until Nov 6.

Mr O’Halloran was required to surrender his passport, reside at St Joseph’s, Boreenamanna Rd, and sign on every Tuesday and Thursday at Anglesea St Garda Station.

Williamson is also required to reside at his Carrigaline address, surrender his passport, and sign on at Carrigaline Garda Station every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

A third man is due in court today in relation to the case.
