Referendum air time predicament

The yes and no sides in the children’s referendum will be covered equally during RTÉ debates, but the station has yet to decide if both sides will receive the same amount of news coverage.

Station sources yesterday said it would “almost be impossible” that advocates of both sides be given equal coverage because of limited support on the no side.

A number of formal radio and television debates on the proposed constitutional amendment are planned, and these will feature equal representation from both sides, RTÉ said.
