Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to a road traffic accident which claimed the life of a young woman in a Cork suburb.

Amanda Carroll, 25, from Ballyphehane in Cork, died after the moped she was riding was in collision with a car on the Sarsfield Rd, Wilton, around 11.30pm on Monday.

Ms Carroll, who worked at Abtran in Bishopstown, had just driven on to the southern end of Sarsfield Rd and was close to one of the city’s driving test centres when she was in collision with a car driving up the hill in the opposite direction.
