Food producers from across Cork and Kerry will gather for a regional ‘food summit’ next week to explore ways of boosting an industry which has the potential to create up to 2,500 jobs over the next eight years.

More than 200 people involved in the region’s SME food sector will meet with Agriculture Minister Simon Coveney at the inaugural Cork/Kerry Food Forum next Monday from 2pm.

Organised by Bord Bia, Cork County and City Enterprise Boards, Kerry Enterprise Board and Cork County Council, the event will feature workshops on consumer trends and information on applying for geographical indication (GI) status, which protects the names and products from specific areas.
