A warning has been given of a risk to life unless the road leading to a popular sports facility in Killarney is made safe.

People living close to Spa GAA club grounds, on the outskirts of the Kerry tourist town, are calling for the construction of a footpath along the treacherous, busy roadway used by hundreds of people — many of them children and teenagers, going to the club.

However, Kerry County Council says it has no money to undertake the work, estimated to cost €250,000 at present.
