Socialite to stand trial on €11m fraud charges

Socialite and businessman Breifne O’Brien is to stand trial accused of deception and theft of about €11m in an alleged investment fraud.

Mr O’Brien, aged 51, was arrested in Dublin yesterday morning by fraud squad detectives.

The Cork-born financial adviser was brought before Dublin District Court charged with 38 offences under the Theft and Fraud Act.
