TDs have expressed concern at the increasingly public rift between Health Minister James Reilly and his Labour junior Róisín Shortall.

Although privately Labour TDs generally agree with Ms Shortall’s criticisms of the slow pace of health reform, one party colleague branded the tone of her Dáil remarks on the issue “misjudged”.

While another Labour TD said: “I don’t know what she is playing at” and a Fine Gael deputy asked: “Does she want to jump or be pushed out?”
