Concern over risk to mental health fund

A mental health campaign group says it is extremely alarmed over reports that the mental health fund is to be cut by €35m to offset the HSE’s budget.

“Coming just days ahead of World Suicide Prevention Day on Sept 10, these threatened cuts are yet another blow to mental health,” Mental Health Reform said.

The organisation, which works to promote, improve and prioritise mental health services in Ireland, is staging a protest against the threatened cuts outside Government buildings at lunchtime today.
