Many bogus Irish traders in Australia being deported

Dodgy Irish workmen who have preyed on homeowners in Australia are being deported in large numbers, according to the authorities in New South Wales.

Official figures show that most of the 39 Irish conmen convicted of offences relating to pressurising customers into cut-price shoddy repair jobs have either been deported or fled the country in the past 10 months.

The bogus traders, many of whom are believed to be members of an extended Traveller family, were described by one Australian politician as “the scourge of the modern Western world” for targeting elderly, vulnerable householders.
