Health cuts fiasco reminds us we’ve been here before

The latest U-turn by the Government augurs poorly for cabinet collegiality.

But the dilemma for the Cabinet was made even worse by the confused communication of the budget cuts that led to this week’s passionate protest by disabled groups.

Several measures designed to slash budgets across departments have been rolled back on by the coalition in the last year. Such backtracking was exactly what the last Fianna Fáil-led administration was criticised for.
