An award-winning food producer that got into a financial stew over unmanageable start-up debts has been given a new lease of life by a High Court judge.

McEvoy Family Foods Ltd, which hit the market from its Co Tipperary base in 2009, immediately won gold and silver awards for its seafood chowder and was crowned as a best emerging business.

Barrister Ross Gorman yesterday told the court that the speed of the success had put it in a position of being unable to pay its creditors within three years of set-up.
