Man held over tiger kidnap bid

A 34-year-old man was arrested in Limerick last night in connection with a tiger kidnapping attempt — the third person to be arrested over the incident.

The man was picked up at Lord Edward St by gardaí at 6.30pm yesterday and is being held under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act. He can be held for seven days.

A second man, aged 22, who was arrested in the Garryowen area on Thursday, also saw his holding time extended during a brief hearing at Limerick District Court last night.
