Gardaí want to interview a number of people in an attempt to eliminate them from a fatal hit-and-run inquiry — including one person who has reportedly left the country.

Up to 30 gardaí are still involved in the “painstaking investigation” into the death of Paud O’Leary, aged 42, who was mowed down by a charcoal grey Toyota Land Cruiser while training for a charity cycle in aid of Down’s syndrome.

Mr O’Leary, a married father-of-four who has a daughter that suffers from Down’s syndrome, was knocked down on the outskirts of Gneeveguilla, Co Kerry, on the morning of Jul 1 last.
