The delayed fire safety upgrade on the Jack Lynch Tunnel is finally set to begin in early September.

But motorists can breathe a sigh of relief after it was confirmed last night that the project — which was due to begin last January and take up to six months — will now be completed within three months.

BAM will be appointed main contractors for the work within days.
