Social Protection Minister Joan Burton has launched an attack on tax exiles who are failing to show their loyalty to the State in contributing to public services.

In a veiled charge against rich business people also in debt to the state, the deputy Labour leader highlighted the extent to which some had gone to conceal their wealth abroad.

Addressing the MacGill Summer School in Donegal, she said she was struck by certain people who wanted to maintain a millionaire lifestyle while leaving ordinary citizens to pay for their reckless borrowing.
