Burton: ‘Scope’ for child benefit tax

Joan Burton has again floated the possibility of taxing child benefit for those earning more than €100,000 a year.

However, the Government may not be able to implement the measure in time for this year’s budget.

The social protection minister said she believed there was “scope” for high earners to be taxed on the payment.
