Shatter rejects claims on Shannon searches

Justice, Equality, and Defence Minister Alan Shatter has rejected claims that gardaí have been instructed not to search suspected rendition flights at Shannon Airport.

Mr Shatter has also confirmed that 10 allegations of such activity made by members of the public have been investigated in the past five years and no evidence of rendition was found.

Rendition is the practice of transferring individuals from one country to another by means that bypass all judicial and administrative due process.
