FF: Labour is being ‘tribal’ on bank probe

Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin says the Labour Party is trying to pull a “political stroke” by trying to get the proposed Oireachtas banking inquiry conducted by the finance committee rather than the Public Accounts Committee.

The PAC is headed by Fianna Fáil TD John McGuinness whereas Labour’s Alex White is head of the finance committee.

Mr Martin says the Labour Party is engaging in “tribal and partisan politics, which confirms the fears of the public and was part of the reason why the referendum [on inquiries by the Oireachtas] was voted down last year”.
