Council moves to defuse cable car row

Consultants are due to make recommendations within the next two months which locals hope will defuse a row over the suspension of livestock transportation on Ireland’s only cable car.

Cork County Council last year prohibited the transportation of animals on the Dursey Island cable car.

From 1969, when it first opened, farmers had been able to move livestock on and off the island.
