Irish parents are fans of celebrity names

The trend for celebrity baby names is creeping its way into the top 100 Irish baby names — although perennial favourites Jack and Emily still top of the list.

Jack takes the spot once again and has been the most popular boy’s name here since 2007, while Emily moves up to take the top spot for the first time.

The top five boys’ names (Jack, James, Sean, Daniel and Conor) have made up the top five since 2007, while four of the top five boys’ names (Jack, Seán, Conor and James) have been in the top five since 1998, with only their order changing from year to year.
