Mountain rescue team warns hillwalkers to stay on track

Hillwalkers and climbers have been warned to take special care due to extremely slippery conditions and low cloud on mountains at present.

The Kerry Mountain Rescue Team (KMRT), which answered three callouts over the past two weekends, has urged people to use well-trodden paths and avoid slopes that could be hazardous following heavy rainfall.

Team spokesman Damien Courtney yesterday said falls were far less likely if people remained on the beaten track.
