Teenager’s party plans go haywire after ‘invite’ goes viral

A Cavan teenager who inadvertently invited thousands to a party at his family home slept soundly last night after Garda intervention ensured that revellers stayed away.

The young man’s Facebook invitation went ‘viral’ on the internet when more than 1,000 people said they would attend what they regarded as a public event. Although the teenager quickly withdrew the invitation, another Facebook user replicated the invitation.

The party attracted attention on Twitter yesterday, with most saying that the party house, in Lavey, Co Cavan, would be destroyed. One person tweeted: “I hope you enjoyed your house while it lasted.”
