File sent to DPP after seizure of €120,000 cannabis herb
The man, who is in his 40s, and with an address in the Banteer area of Co Cork, was arrested in the Pouladuff area of the city on Wednesday afternoon as part of a garda investigation into the sale and distribution of illegal drugs in North and West Cork.
Gardaí from Togher, working with the Cork West Drug Unit, stopped and searched a car on the Pouladuff Road around 4pm.
During the search, they discovered six kilos of cannabis herb which, pending analysis, has an estimated street value of €120,000.
The driver of the car was arrested and was taken to Togher Garda Station for questioning.
He was released without charge just before midnight and a file will now be prepared for the DPP.
