Household tax reminders and legal threats to be sent out

The Government has begun tracking down the hundreds of thousands of homeowners who refused to pay the €100 household charge.

Up to 100,000 property owners are set to receive the legal threats by post after their addresses were identified from utility providers and state agency databases, the Department of Environment has confirmed.

The warnings are the first batch of letters to be issued in a bid to force the 600,000 of 1.6m properties in the State to pay up.
