Garda car in crash with 4x4

The Office of the Garda Ombudsman has begun an investigation into a road crash involving a patrol car and a 4x4 in Co Limerick.

A member of the Garda Traffic Corps was taken to University College Hospital Limerick with injuries sustained in the crash, which happened outside Newcastle West.

The jeep that was being driven by a woman at Lacey’s Cross, Newcastle West, shortly after 2pm.

She and a woman passenger were also taken to hospital.

Both women’s injuries were described as non-life threatening.
