An 80-year-old Co Offaly great-grandmother of 17 has proven it’s never too late to sit your driving test.

Heather proves you’re never too old to learn to drive

After three unsuccessful attempts, Heather McGrath from Walsh Island passed her test despite terrible weather conditions last Friday.

Mrs McGrath, who will turn 81 next month, took up driving when her husband Jim passed away 12 years ago. Prior to that, she said: “I never drove at all. I didn’t even know how to start a car.”
